Troubleshooting Redirect Chains for Better SEO

DevToolVault Team

A redirect chain happens when Page A redirects to Page B, which then redirects to Page C. This is bad for two reasons:

  1. Latency: Each redirect adds a round-trip to the server, slowing down the page load for the user.
  2. Link Juice Loss: Google may stop following the chain after a certain number of hops, or pass less authority to the final destination.

Finding Chains

It's hard to spot chains in the browser. Our Redirect Checker traces the entire path of a URL, showing you every hop along the way so you can flatten the chain (redirect A directly to C).
